End of Life Care Strategy: Quality Markers Consultation

Friday, November 21, 2008

HandsThe Department of Health has launched a consultation on Quality Markers for End of Life Care, as promised in the End of Life Strategy published in July.

The document, aimed at commissioners, performance managers and providers of end of life care services, is a development from the July strategy, where it was agreed that a unified national approach should be taken to develop quality standards for care provided to people at the end of life.

Ken Sutton, Director of Strategy and Policy for Marie Curie Cancer Care, said:

"It is important to keep up the momentum on end of life care improvements established in the summer with the End of Life Care Strategy and Lord Darzi’s Next Stage Review. We welcome the consultation and the commitment to introducing quality markers."
