Ssl25187_2 Going into Care Information Day

This week is National Care Homes Week in the UK. A week designed to raise awareness of care issues, with a large focus on improving care knowledge for those people who are considering putting their family, friends or themselves into care.

To support this initiative Caring Business held a ‘Going into Care’ Information Day in Manchester on June 4th. The day offered the opportunity to learn more about care options, with speakers at the event giving a real insight into the realities of care. This included, what care home’s can provide, the costs involved, life in a home and the negative myths that still prevail within the care industry.

This is one of many events that Caring Business are putting on this year to improve caring knowledge. These events all offer information that is helpful for people working within the care industry along with people who have family living within it.

Adults are increasingly using technology in formal and informal learning.

Elearning Research from NIACE and Becta has reported that there is an increase in organisations turning to technology to enrich learning experiences. This is mainly a result of companies recognising the numerous rewards that technological based learning can offer their staff and their organisation.

In response to this news, Adult Learners' Week in May focused heavily the use of technology along with the potential it holds in enabling learning anywhere, anytime and anyplace. Something which Becta recognise, saying:

"Technology makes learning more exciting and interesting. Gone are the days when chalk and a blackboard were the only learning tools in a classroom. Technology allows students with families or jobs to learn in a more flexible way. Resources can be accessed online 24-7, meaning learners can fit their studies around their busy lives."
